BICYCLING
IN GREENSBORO
Helping Transform the
Greater
Greensboro Area
into a More
Bicycle-Friendly Community!
Advocacy & Public Policy
What is advocacy? Advocacy means
supporting a cause and educating people on its effect on their lives,
knowing one's rights under applicable laws, and participating
in efforts to shape the public policies that carry out those laws. A bicycling advocate wears many hats,
including concerned citizen, voter, lobbyist, volunteer, patron,
mentor, donor, public consumer, and of course a bike helmet!
Bicycling
In Greensboro is dedicated to: educating our community on the
importance of all road users sharing the road safely; connecting
bicyclists with the information and support they need;
and encouraging more Greensboro residents to participate in the
joy of
bicycling.
Although
BIG's status as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization limits the
percentage of its annual revenues that can be spent on lobbying
efforts, BIG's annual revenues have been very modest so far.
Accordingly, very little has been spent on lobbying.
